TV Review: Breaking Bad

Breaking Bad. It is a phrase used to define drifting away from the right path. What is the right path though? How is it defined? Who gets to say what it is? What do we believe in? What do we value? These are questions you could be asking yourself as you watch this brilliant TV series. If you haven't asked yourself these questions before, I suggest you do. Are we who we are simply because this is how we were raised and this is what we have gotten used to being? I believe it should be much more than that. It should be because we choose to tread this path in every waking moment. The choice and the reasons behind it should be your own.

Meet Walter White.

This is how Walter White thinks. He is the protagonist of this series, who finds himself at the lowest point of his life and is running out of time and options. He has to do what is right for his family and for himself. What is right? Find out by watching episode after episode, and maybe along the way, challenge your own morality against what is wrong, too.

It is not the type of series that reels you in through episode after episode of cliffhangers and exciting situations. This is deeper than that, so don't give up on it after a couple of episodes that aren't as exciting as The Walking Dead. :) This show gives you eyes into people's lives as events slowly unfold into chapters you won't believe. The acting is incredible, so it's very easy to convince yourself into thinking this is how real people would react and this is a very beautifully realistic story. It is a story I will never forget. If you're lucky, it's also a story that will help you know yourself better as you ask yourself the questions I posed above. What is right? What is wrong? Whatever your answer is, it will be one hell of a ride.

I rarely ever care about a character this much from movies and series. Now, weeks after I watched all five seasons, I am still quite moved (or should I say disturbed?) by this story. What do I watch after this? What can I watch? Nothing else seems to matter much or is nearly as interesting. I am even considering rewatching the whole show from the start, but I'll probably save that for another time, when I have forgotten the little details. I guess I'll just watch The Walking Dead and hope it's half as good as this. The same goes for any other series I'll ever watch.

Verdict: 5/5. Perfection. - If you are EVER going to take my recommendation on anything, take this one. If you open your mind enough to begin appreciating the beauty of this story, you will never regret it.

Notice that I did not get into the story much or leave a trailer for you. I want your experience to be as pure as it can be. Now go and watch! :)

Love Breaking Bad? Of course you do. You damn well should!
